Hellos are better than goodbyes

One of the hardest part about doing apartment ministry is the number of goodbyes I have to make.  Kids are constanly moving in and out of the communities I work in.

That’s why I’m so excited about one of the new kids who moved into the North Grand Villas.  Jazlyn is a girl I met at Rose Plaza three years ago when it was called the Fairfield Apartments.  Her cousins lived there and she lived just down the road.  After they moved out, she quit coming to our Bible Studies consistently.  She’d drop in every now and then, but for the most part I never got to see her.

Her mother was recently sent to prison, so Jazlyn moved in with her grandmother.  And last month, her grandmother moved into the North Grand Villas.  Jazlyn saw my van parked at the community center where we meet last week, and decided to come by and say hello.  So now she’s getting back involved with the ministry in a different location.

That kind of made my week.
