Today marks Lia’s first full month of working as Ministry Assistant for us. She’s been busy helping buying supplies, sorting, filling, helping with Bible studies, posting photos to Facebook and Instagram, and any thing else we ask of her. She’s been a huge help already. I asked her to share just a little bit about herself and her impressions of her first month on the job. Here’s what she had to say:
I was first introduced to Brooks through the Kids Club bible study in 2005 at North Grand Villas apartments where I lived at the time. At that time, I could never know how much work and time was involved with all that Brooks does until just recently.
I have been blessed to be a part of one of the greatest opportunities to give back to the same organization that has shown me and my family so much support over the years. As of August 10, I am now a ministry assistant for Mission 2540 and working with my mentor, Brooks. I quickly realized my help was needed as just as much as I needed the opportunity. My first task was shopping for back packs and school supplies, making sure the right supplies went to the right kid, right grade, and right apartment complex. It has been the biggest blessing to be able to see exactly how many families Mission 2540 helps. In all, we were able to help a little over 140 kids this year, and the greatest feeling has been seeing how happy they were. Our Kids Clubs take place 5 different apartment complexes: North Grand Villias, Cathys Point, Plum Creek, Glenwood, and our newest addition, Spring Terrance Apartments.
Not only do I get to be a part of what Brooks first started with me, but now I am able to bring along my own daughter and let her be involved with bible study. I am very excited about working with Mission 2540, and I can’t wait to see what else this year holds for us!
